episode 1 - elevating
Loree and Michelle introduce themselves and answer four big questions: who are they? how did they become friends? why did they start climbing? and what are their plans for this podcast?
show NOTES
(2:23) Loree’s badass friend Kate is registered 46-er #15162
(2:30) “I just think they’re absolute … … she-roes.”
This long pause was Loree deciding if she could say “badasses” on the air. Per usual, she erred on the side of caution.
(4:36)
That was not your cell phone dinging. It was ours. It won’t be the last time this happens. But we do eventually learn to turn our devices off when we record podcast episodes.
(6:07)
We keep trying to call Ben and Tommy “the men” because they are, in fact, grown men now. But they’ll always be “the boys” in our hearts. Sorry, Ben! Sorry, Tommy!
(10:53)
Actually, there are no “easy” high peaks in the Adirondacks. Full stop.
(15:24)
Often high peak summits are quite far from where cars must be parked. Often hikers (like us!) cover that distance slowly, so the time it takes to get up to a summit and back is much higher than we estimate here.
(22:04)
Our first climbing season included five hikes, and our first podcast season will include six episodes. Loree was a bit overexcited here and flubbed the numbers.
